SAFE AND RELIABLE
Xplora offers the highest level of data security, making it the most secure product in its category, and has been tested and approved by TÜV. All communication is encrypted. This means there is secure encrypted communication between the kid's watch, the cloud server, and the parental app. In addition, the Xplora kids smartwatch is not connected to the Internet. The data storage has been carefully designed according to the GDPR regulations. These factors combined make Xplora safe and suitable for children. The Xplora smartwatch is equipped with the technology of a smartphone. However, the features are adapted to the needs of children. Most importantly, unlike ordinary smartphones, the smartwatch has been designed with security measures that protect it from possible hacking or cyberbullying.
XPLORA APP - ALWAYS STAY CONNECTED
All Xplora watches are set up and managed via the Xplora app. This way, parents always have an overview and control. They can enter and add contacts via the app, and only these contacts are visible on the Xplora watch. The child can only communicate with the contacts that have also been stored by the parents. The live location of the watch can be viewed by the parents at any time via the app. All other functions, such as setting an alarm, school mode, or safety zones, are also controlled via the parental app.
GOPLAY
Xplora believes that kids should be encouraged to stay active and explore the world around them. Xplora’s reputation as the world’s leading smartwatch for kids has allowed us to be pioneers in this space. Using our revolutionary rewards system, kids receive 1 Xplora Coin for every 1,000 steps they take. Xplora Coins are valid in the unique Goplay platform that features fun games, activities, and exciting campaigns. Working with major film and TV companies such as Paramount, Warner Bros, Universal Pictures, and Netflix, we run regular campaigns on the Goplay platform, encouraging children to be more active. Decided on the X6 play after considering lots of smart watches. It does everything it says on the tin. I contacted Techvue for help with the sim and subscription service offered with the watch. We are rural so phone network coverage can be patchy. Shopped about for a sim only deal with unlimited calls and texts and very small amount of data as advised. This works well and I chose the network I wanted rather than leave it to the sim provided.
Ordering was easy and excellent communications from Techvue with delivery dates - really above and beyond what I was expecting.
Charging and set up is pretty straightforward. I've given myself a week using it by myself before I let on to my son that it exists. Excellent tracking service if I need his location and calling / voice notes are easy. He can only text me pre-set messages so if they are not relevant then a voice note is ideal. I've added his Dad as a second guardian and added the phone numbers I want him to have. Haven't tried the school setting yet but it looks perfect for what we need. Step counter earning coins for games is ideal too. I don't want my son to have a phone at 9 years so I think this is such a good alternative.
Software updates should ideally be done when connected to wifi to avoid using data. From the app on my phone I can see how much battery life the watch has left - apparently live tracking drains the watch battery but I've not tried this yet. I'm certainly going to feel much happier about him meeting friends or going out on his bike if he has this connectivity. So ideal for me - just make sure the sim you choose is on the mobile network you want. I'm paying £6 a month on giffgaff (O2).
